4 Interesting facts about Flaming Cliffs in Mongolia

It is located in the southern part of Mongolia in Omnogobi province. Bayanzag is a unique and beautiful nature in Dundgovi that attracts both foreign and domestic tourists. This beautiful place is one of the Nine Wonders of Dundgovi aimag, so beautiful that it can amaze not only the Gobi region but also Mongolia to the world.

Many years ago, a layer of silt on the seabed was formed by the wind. The bench is about 60 meters high and 400 meters wide.

From a distance, the flaming cliffs look like the ruins of a city or a building.  Seven kilometers east of Omnogovi, in the middle of a low hill, there is a horizontal cave. This cave is 50 meters long.

  1. Mongolians call it “Bayanzag” which means “rich in saxuals”
  2. The region is called the land of dinosaurs because its famous for yielding the first discovery of dinosaur eggs as well as a lot of paleontological findings have been discovered.
  3. It was once an ancient sea bed which was existed 60-70 million years ago.
  4. You can watch a beautiful sunrise and sunset as well as enjoy two-humped Bactrian camel riding.
