This book documents the striking changes that the once nomadic felt city has undergone in the past 100 years. It is a collection of 370 stunning images showing locations as they were as they are now. Each pair of photographs has been selected to tell a story of urban sprawl, damage to the environment and to neighborhoods, traffic congestion and modernization. Each image is accompanied by concise captions that explain related facts and history as the uncontrolled growth of the city is presented. Many will be able to travel through the past century and learn a bit about Ulaanbaatar’s history as it is reflected and described in this book.
